Columbia, SC – January 8, 2013 – Senate Majority Leader Harvey Peeler announced today that he has appointed Senator Danny Verdin (R-Laurens) and Senator Shane Massey (R-Edgefield) as Senate Majority Whips.
Responsible for shoring up GOP support on major pieces of legislation, Verdin and Massey will work hand in hand with Sen. Peeler in advancing the Senate GOP Caucus’ Jobs and Reform Agenda this year.
“Senators Verdin and Massey both have unquestionable conservative credentials and work ethics,” Peeler said. “I can think of no better two people in the Senate to help me push for the agenda of jobs and reform that the people of South Carolina have asked for.”
“The Senate Republican Caucus has a real opportunity this year to push forward a conservative agenda that brings jobs and opportunity to South Carolina,” Verdin said. “It’s an honor to be re-named Majority Whip, and I look forward to working with the entire Caucus to push these bills across the finish line.”
“We desperately need to update and reform our state government in South Carolina, and I am pleased that the Caucus has made these measures such a high priority this year,” Massey said. “Working together, we can bring the kind of efficiency and accountability to our state that the voters have demanded.”
