MEET GREG RYBERG
Married to his wife Betty for 33 years, Greg and Betty are parents of Amy, Kyle, and Shana. He is the proud grandfather of May 2002 twins – Chelsea and Jack – born to his daughter Amy and son-in-law Jonathan Doyle. Greg and Betty are very much involved with the community. Because they are convinced that strong churches make for strong communities and families, Greg and Betty are extremely involved with their church, as well.
A true success story, Greg and Betty decided to pursue their dreams in 1977 and invest their modest personal savings to start a small business. Greg and Betty spent two years taking turns, working shifts in a service station in Aiken. With hard work, long hours, and smart investments, the Ryberg’s turned a five-man operation into a multi-state operation with over fifty stores.
This same work ethic and business perspective propelled Greg to the State Senate. Today, Greg serves as the Chairman Labor, Commerce, & Industry. He also serves on the Transportation, Finance, and Corrections & Penology Committees. Greg is a board member of the State Infrastructure Bank and the Governor’s Nuclear Advisory Board.
Since the first day Greg took office in 1993, he has been a steady voice for conservative reform. He worked with a small band of Senate conservatives to deliver landmark property tax relief, played as a high-profile leader in the fight that killed video poker, and led the fight to expel a convicted felon from the State Senate.
Greg is a hard-working conservative, willing to take the tough stands, and an experienced businessman with a natural eye for the bottom line.
